the translator
I’m Georgia Lyon Froman. Originally from the American Midwest, I have lived in the south of France since 2015. I hold a Master of Literary Translation from Aix-Marseille Université and a dual Bachelor of Arts in French and Anthropology from the University of South Carolina-Columbia, where I graduated Summa cum laude (“with highest honors”). I am also a part-time editor at Editions Wildproject, a French publisher devoted to ecology and the environmental humanities. As a scientific and literary translator specialized in the humanities, social sciences, ecology (both scientific and political), and the arts, I help French-speaking writers and thinkers express their ideas in English.
services
Scientific texts and other serious works require a high level of precision when it comes to language, but also on a stylistic and grammatical level. I offer personalized French to English translation and copy editing services for:
- Researchers and academics (books, articles, abstracts, grant applications…)
- Writers and publishers (novels, short stories, screenplays, digital projects…)
- Museums and galleries (labels, artists’ bios, communication…)
- Professionals (websites, CVs, cover letters, communication…)
For texts written in French, I offer French to English translation services. This can also include ensuring that the text conforms to the style guide of a particular journal or publisher, as well as respecting the regional variety of English desired (US, UK, South Africa, etc.).
For texts written in English, I offer copy editing services designed to correct any spelling or grammar errors and make the text clearer and more idiomatic in English. As with translation, this can include ensuring that the text conforms to a particular style guide.
If you are preparing for a conference, I offer the same services for posters, Power Point presentations, notes, etc.
If you have a project in mind, please write to me for a free quote.
I look forward to working together!
